Judy Osborne
Judy Osborne, a transsexual woman, began her involvement with the community in 1977 when she joined a Tri-Ess affiliate in Portland, the forerunner of NWGA. She joined the Emerald City when it was formed in 1983 and its board in 1985, serving on the board a total of twelve years, four of them as the club's President. She served also on the boards of the Ingersoll Gender Center and the American Friends Service Committee LGBTQ Youth Program in Seattle. She's a member the Seattle Police LBGTQ Advisory Council and taught classes at the Seattle/King County Police Academy before it merged with the State Academy. Judy has written extensively for Tapestry and Transgender Forum and prepared and distributed a series of twenty-four monthly letters on transgender topics for psychologists. She has done considerable political work for the LGBTQ community in and around Seattle. Currently she serves on the board of Soulforce, a national organization working to reduce the enormous persuasive and political power of churches to deny LGBT rights and cause hurt to our people. Judy presents: Blue Monday All good things come to an end, even Esprit. After living our dreams for a week, first timers often find "the end" stunningly traumatic. We return to our homes, jobs, loved ones, and closets with a heavy heart, tears, sometimes deep depression. Judy shows first timers (and others) how to duck the worst traumas by treating ourselves well afterwards, staying in contact with friends we meet at Esprit, planning treats to look forward to, and applying bunches of additional ideas gathered over the years from sisters facing their own blue Mondays. |
