Fashion Show

"Dare to be a Diva!"

The fashion show is your opportunity to take to the runway.

This is always a very creative affair with participation from resources and local businesses. We expect another great line-up of sponsoring clothing stores.

Those who choose to participate will have to commit some time to pick out clothes from the sponsoring stores and to a rehearsal with our fashion show diva Michelle. Volunteers will be on hand to help with last second makeup and hair touchups and take photos. Models will engage in hectic clothing changes and spend anxious minutes waiting for the time to pass before their turn to walk, but remember...all the audience sees is glamour. There are no special requirements for being in the fashion show and first-timers are encouraged to participate, but you do need to sign up beforehand.

Watch for announcements at Esprit on how to sign up and when the various stores will allow models to select and try on outfits at the stores.

Your showcase continues on Friday evening with a great evening of entertainment in our own Talent Show.

Schedule and Requirements

  1. Girls who have never modeled before should attend any feminine movement class during the week that they can (such as Suzanne Adam's CD 101 class).
  2. Practice will be on Friday morning 9:00AM-9:30AM in the Juan de Fuca and/or Olympic room to get the feel for our surroundings.
  3. Most models will want to make a costume change, so we have at least three stores to shop. Stores will loan any outfit they have that you like.
    • The clothes are donated for the day and must be returned immediately after the show unless you purchase them.
    • All models will need to go to the Fashion Bug, Maurice's, Black Diamond Bridal and Electric Beach Clothes stores and pick out an outfit for the show. The girls at the stores will help you and show you the dressing rooms and mirrors. The whole store is ours cherry to pick from. Make sure you plan for matching shoes.
      • The Fashion Bug store is next to a Safeway on the right side of the highway before the "Y" as you come into town. Sheena and Tabatha are the store managers and will gladly show you all the casual, office, and dress wear they have. 2743 E Highway 101, Port Angeles, 360-452-3189 (map).
      • Belva and her assistant Sharon of Black Diamond Bridal are genuinely eager to help you find a beautiful gown. You will love the attention they give you and you are encouraged to find something that you can keep for future events. They are located upstairs of Olympic Stationers in downtown Port Angeles at 122 East Front Street (map).
      • Maurice's in downtown Port Angeles has many up to date fashions and Michelle, the fashion show coordinator in 2009, wore a beautiful bubble dress from them during the show. They are excited to help in the fashion show so stop in and talk to Lynne and see if you can find an outfit for Friday's fashion show. (map)
      • Although not part of the fashion show loan program, we have to mention Electric Beach, which we refer to as Port Angeles' diva store. It has some great wigs and accessories, hair extensions, diva eyelashses, bikinis, and even some dresses and skirts.
  4. Once you have chosen your outfits and gowns, you must write a little biography and description on a 4x6 card or half sheet of paper of what you are wearing so the announcer can say something about you as you move through the room. For example: "Michelle started modeling as a teenager although no one saw her in the closet. She has finally broken free of society's clutch and is now wearing a Joseph Ritkoff creation. The soft pink pastel really sets off her blue eyes and she enjoys wearing this every chance she has.". Use your imagination and have something for each of your strolls on the runway.
  5. When lunch begins on Friday at 11:30AM, we will be getting changed, fixing our hair and touching up makeup in a curtained area near the ballrooms. We should have assistance from the vendors with jewelry, hair and makeup touch ups as we wait for our turn on the runway.
  6. At 12:00PM the show will start with spring and summer outfits first. Strut your stuff with poise, balance and pizzazz. There will be tape marks on the floor to remind you where to stop and turn. You will then carefully climb the steps to the stage and pose for pictures for just a moment. Watch for the Photographer to take your picture for the yearbook.
  7. Now comes the hectic part as we all come back to magically change into evening gowns and strut back through the gauntlet again, it is sooo exciting!
  8. When the last model gets through we will all quickly get together for a formal picture of all the models.
  9. Have a change of clothing with you so you can change out of the loaned clothing items so they can be returned to the store. You may be able to give your clothes to the fashion show coordinator or someone else for them to return for you.
  10. We have to be finished by 1:30pm.
