May 23, 2009: Last year's recap has been posted.

May 19, 2009: Esprit 2009 is over but the work begins anew for next year. We have some changes and improvements in mind already based on how things went this year but you have another chance to submit your comments too through various means found on our Contact page. If you did not fill in the questionnaire provided to you on the last day of Esprit, please visit our online feedback page before July 31, 2009 and give us your thoughts.

May 11, 2009: Reminder: Olympic Bus Lines runs from Seattle to PA twice a day for only $80 round trip. You can bring 2 big suitcases and a carryon.

May 11, 2009: Due to unforeseen circumstances, Susan Lindsey has had to cancel her class on advanced cosmeceuticals on Wednesday. Check in with the Registration Area to see all schedule changes and substitute classes.

May 8, 2009: Dr. Fawver's couples class has been reinstated. Several couples will join her to discuss relationships with a TG partner. Her civil rights class has been cancelled.

May 5, 2009: Esprit's position on the H1N1 flu is posted on the Documents page. Esprit will operate in accordance with current guidance issued by health authorities. There are no program changes to Esprit at this time. We ask that attendees be informed, be diligent, exercise personal responsibility, follow recommended hygiene practices, and promptly check in with a doctor if you experience any typical flu symptoms.

May 5, 2009: Dr. Ousterhout and Dr. Meltzer are confirmed and in non-conflicting time slots on the updated schedule. You get to see them both! A printable schedule is available and will be included in your registration packet.

May 4, 2009: Julie Zavala-Marantette presents a hands-on makeup workshop on Wednesday. Every attendee gets a makeup kit to take home. Class is limited to 20 students.

May 3, 2009: The schedule has been adjusted and some new classes have been added. Judy Osborne returns to present her much loved "Blue Monday" class. Susan Lindsey will discuss Nordstrom's latest advanced skin care cosmeceuticals and laser products; you can now do skin peels on your own and buy reasonably priced laser equipment to do your own hair removal.

May 2, 2009: Attendees who wish to model in the Friday Fashion Show should read the guidelines and contact Michelle with any questions.

April 29, 2009: Elaine Lerner's popular class "X and Why: The Biology of Sex and Gender" is back.

April 26, 2009: The SO program course descriptions and times have been posted on the schedule. Detailed course descriptions are available on Dotti's page.

April 26, 2009: The Port Angeles Community Players invite everyone to attend an afterparty immediately after the Wednesday presentation of the lighthearted play "
Story Theater". Note that the shuttle only runs immediately before and after the show so you will need to arrange your own transportation if you stay for the party.

April 26, 2009: Remember that you have two ways to attend an optional Victorian High Tea. Thursday's is at the Red Lion served on china donated by a local supporter of Esprit. Tuesday's is the most grand excursion where you may choose to drop in for high tea at the elegant Empress hotel while visiting Victoria.

April 20, 2009: Reminder--all attendees must pre-register by filling in and submitting the pre-registration form to produce a printed registration form that is mailed in later with your payment and/or scholarship voucher. The scholarship application form must be submitted separately since that information is kept confidential and separate from the registration information.

April 14, 2009: A new roomshare and rideshare bulletin board has been set up to help you find roommates and rides. On the Travel page, learn more about Kenmore Air and their flights directly to Port Angeles.

April 5, 2009: A reservation-based Edmonds-Port Townsend ferry is available. It runs late in the evening early in the week and preference is given to freight. The Keystone-Port Townsend ferry has reopened and will be running through Esprit. However, this route takes reservations and due to demand, early reservations are recommended.

March 25, 2009: Mariette Pathy Allen, a recognized figure in the transgender community for her advocacy and sensitive photographic essays, is our Saturday luncheon keynote speaker. She also presents classes on transgender relationships and photography earlier in the week.

March 23, 2009: We've got some great entertainment lined up for Saturday night. Lynn Skinner, voice coach extraordinaire, guitarist, and vocalist, will be performing before and during dinner. If you wish to venture into town, The Nasty Habits are playing to a packed crowd at Steele's, one of Port Angeles' largest bars.

March 14, 2009: The Port Angeles Community Playhouse performs "Story Night", a classic, lighthearted retelling of popular Grimm's and Aesop's fables with a modern, comedic twist. This private show is included in your registration!

March 11, 2009: The preliminary class schedule has been posted. The presenter/resource biography page is getting filled in and there are many more vendors and service providers to be added in the days to come.

February 24, 2009: Reservations are recommended for the Keystone-Port Townsend ferry. Although reservations are not mandatory, they are strongly advised for vehicles. There is no deposit fee involved so they will put your name on the manifest, issue a confirmation # for check-in, and ask that you arrive at least 30 minutes prior to the sailing. Each sailing offers approximately 10-15 stand-by spaces with a recommended 45 minute advance arrival. You will need to make a reservation at least two hours in advance of the scheduled departure, so if you need to travel on a spontaneous basis, please consider stand-by and plan to arrive early.

February 17, 2009: The Big and Little Sister application forms have been improved. Just answer a few questions on a web page and you as a Little Sister applicant will be on your way to having a Big Sister guide you through your new experience, or as a Big Sister applicant you will have the rewarding experience of watching a Little Sister experience her first Esprit under your wing.
